1. Held "yes on Prop 8 signs" on a street corner
2. Tried the cry it out method everybody talks about - Brooke cried for 1 1/2 hours and still wouldn't go to sleep. I will never be doing that again. It is much easier for me to nurse her to sleep.
3. Went grocery shopping
4. Painted pumpkins for the first time instead of carving them.
5. Filled out my absentee ballot
6. Snuggled with my handsome hubby
7. Played with Brooke all day
8. Watched SNL Best of Jimmy Fallon

1. That it gets cooler - not that it has this year.
2. That it is holiday season - I love celebrating holidays. I am like a little kid where I still count the days down tell Christmas.

Apples and Pumpkins and Bears.. Oh My!

Last Saturday Brooke and I went to Oak Glen with some friends to pick apples, go to the pumpkin patch and to eat some good BBQ (that turned out to be pretty bad.) We had a great time. As you can see I got a little carried away with the photos. There are many more than these, but these are the one's I just had to share. Enjoy!

She liked him so much she decided to go for a ride! There was a very cute barn at the apple orchard and I had to get some cute shots there.

1. I played the trumpet for 4 years until I got into a bike accident and hurt my lip and needed stitches. (then I went onto dance and cheer leading which was definitely better for my image in high school :))

2. I love to drink the juice from pepperchinies.

3. I have broken my wrist, and my foot. When I broke my foot, I did it on homecoming game night and still went to the dance. I just hopped. When I went to the DR. he said I broke it in 4 different places.

4. I am a closet roller bladder, and I wish it would get popular again.

5. I don't like animals, and everyone thinks I am mean and insensitive because I don't like them. I just don't think they belong inside. Pets are made to be outside creatures.

6. I have a crush on Patrick Dempsey (along with the rest of the world.)

I know that this is a sensitive subject to speak on, however it's importance is paramount to the future of our children and grandchildren. The decision we make today about this important issue could have many repercussions for the generations to follow.

I am generally not a very political person, however this issue goes beyond politics and into moral issues. It is important to stand up for what you believe, and to stand up for what is right.

Here are some facts of Prop 8 -

Having tolerance without condoning.We can love someone while still maintaining and advocating our standards and beliefs.

Unless Proposition 8 passes, California society will soon undergo a profound change in its basic understanding of marriage and family life.That will affect everyone in numerous ways. Over time, greater acceptance of nontraditional marriage will be demanded of all people. This could impact the ability of any religion to teach and practice its beliefs.

Proposition 8 will not hurt gays.In California, the law provides for marriage-related benefits to be given to civil unions and domestic partnerships. Proposition 8 does not diminish these benefits.

Failure to pass Proposition 8 will hurt children.If gay marriage remains legal, public schools will put it on equal footing with traditional marriage. Children will likely receive “age appropriate” information about sexual relations within heterosexual and homosexual marriages.

Failure to pass Proposition 8 will hurt churches.The court’s decision will inevitably lead to conflicts with religious liberty and free speech rights. Society will become more and more hostile to traditional beliefs about marriage and family.

We need to protect our freedom of religion. We need to protect our families and future families. We have been asked to donate our time and help with this important issue.Please do all that you can to help educate others about this. Please do all that you can as this may be one of the most important things you do to protect your family. One more thought to share - “Gender is an essential characteristic of individual premortal, mortal, and eternal identity and purpose.” The account in Genesis of Adam and Eve being created and placed on earth emphasizes the creation of two distinct genders: “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.”

Marriage between a man and a woman is central to the plan of salvation. The sacred nature of marriage is closely linked to the power of procreation. Only a man and a woman together have the natural biological capacity to conceive children. This power of procreation – to create life and bring God’s spirit children into the world – is sacred and precious. Misuse of this power undermines the institution of the family and thereby weakens the social fabric. Strong families serve as the fundamental institution for transmitting to future generations the moral strengths, traditions, and values that sustain civilization. As the Universal Declaration of Human Rights affirms, “The family is the natural and fundamental group unit of society.”
Marriage is not primarily a contract between individuals to ratify their affections and provide for mutual obligations. Rather, marriage and family are vital instruments for rearing children and teaching them to become responsible adults. While governments did not invent marriage, throughout the ages governments of all types have recognized and affirmed marriage as an essential institution in preserving social stability and perpetuating life itself. Hence, regardless of whether marriages were performed as a religious rite or a civil ceremony, married couples in almost every culture have been granted special benefits aimed primarily at sustaining their relationship and promoting the environment in which children are reared. A husband and a wife do not receive these benefits to elevate them above any other two people who may share a residence or social tie, but rather in order to preserve, protect, and defend the all-important institutions of marriage and family.

It makes me so grateful....

After listening to General Conference these past couple of days, all I can be is grateful. I felt overwhelmed by the love that the Prophet and Apostles have for each one of us as well as the Savior. I love listening to them. They are humble, king, generous, loving, virtuous, etc...... I feel so thankful to be a member of this church. I know it is true with every fiber of my being. I feel it in everything I do. I truly feel blessed to have been born into the gospel, and to have had it's influence on me my entire life. I feel that each day Heavenly Father blesses me and my family with so much. What an amazing feeling to know and feel my fathers love for me each day. I am so thankful that Brooke and all of our other children will be able to grow up with the full knowledge of the gospel and with the knowledge that their Father in Heaven loves them and is always there for them. It is so wonderful to have this church on the earth. To have the goodness that comes from it and it's members as an influence and a light to an ever increasingly bad world. I could go on and on, but all I really have to say is it makes me so grateful!

She's almost there!!

Brooke has been scooting her way around for quite sometime now, and today for the first time she actually got up on her knees. She just rocked back and forth and she moved one of her legs, but then fell down afterwards. She is very close to crawling, and everyday it seems that she gets more and more frustrated with the fact that she can't get around. It was so cute because she was very proud of herself as you can see in the photos, she had a huge grin on her face the whole time.
